Heat equity is the belief that all community members should have the right to thermally safe indoor and outdoor environments. Heat equity includes the heat experienced by people in their homes, places of work, education, social services, and recreation, and throughout their travel to and from these places.
Knoxville Heat Equity Coalition (KHEC) is a collaborative network of researchers, city government offices, community organizations, and community members working to advance heat equity and reduce the inequitable distribution of heat risks in the Southeast and in Knoxville, Tennessee.
